New Delhi: At least one person was killed and six others were injured after a piece of the roof of Delhi International Airport’s Terminal-1 (T1) collapsed on automobiles this morning during heavy rain. All flights from the terminal at Indira Gandhi International Airport, one of the world’s busiest airports, scheduled until 2 p.m. today have been canceled, Union Minister of Civil Aviation Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu stated after reviewing the airport.
According to officials, the roof sheet and support beams fell, causing damage to four cars parked at the terminal’s pick-up and drop-off areas. The incident was reported to Delhi Fire Services (DFS) about 5:30 a.m.
During the rescue operations, a guy was spotted being removed from a cab onto which an iron beam had fallen.
